Landon Gregory turned one on Aug. 7, 2013. His first year of life flew by faster than Jack or Savannah’s. I could not believe his birthday was upon us already. His birthday party was small and simple, just grandparents and our family. That night after he was in bed I contemplated waking him up to rock him some more. I watched him sleep for a few minutes trying to remember exactly what it felt like when the doctor placed him on my chest when he was first born. My eyes filled with tears just thinking about how busy the last year has been and how work distracted me so much from my third child’s babyhood. And there you go. MOTHER’S GUILT. My own worst enemy.
My pregnancy and delivery with Landon was a breeze.
Jack and Savannah were thrilled to have a baby brother!
Our little cutie proved to have quite a set of lungs on him when he he decided to use them. Like when he heard the buckle of his car seat.
He liked his baths….but was a bit fearful at first.
That hour and a half that I had with him every night all to myself was such precious time. Jack and Savannah were already asleep, Chris was working in the basement, and me and my baby snuggled on the couch, nursed, and played until his bedtime at ten.
Chris sent me this picture at work when he captured one of Landon’s first smiles waking up from a nap. It made me cry happy tears because it was such a sweet picture but sadness since it wasn’t me who snapped the photo to see it for myself.
As Landon grew, so did his good looks. Every month he just seemed to get cuter!
His little white teeth popped through the gums. His eyes got bluer and his hair became thicker and blonder!
Words used by family and strangers to describe my baby boy: cherub, Gerber baby, perfect, and angelic.
I just called him my Landy Dandy.
His sweet smiles melted me every morning.
And this is just one of the many few sleeping shots I have. He rarely stops when he is awake…meaning these peaceful moments of sleep are all the more precious.
Happy Birthday Landon!!! The first year flew by…lets hope the second goes a bit slower!
