The Lohr Family of Five: Happy Easter!!

Easter Sunday 2012

Our Easter weekend began with Kindermusik class Saturday morning in Ames. We had the car packed up and ready to go so we could leave from class to head to Sioux City. We got into town and dropped the kids off so Chris and I could look at house not too far away from either of our parent’s homes. It was a nice house, with fenced in backyard and a playset. We think it will perfect for us for a couple of years. The location is great and we will be close to everything, our families, the kids new preschool, and the practice.

After looking at the house we headed to Mom and Lyle’s house for our favorite pizza and dessert. Jarrod and Lindsey brought baby Jaide, and it was my first time meeting her. She is absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. Watching my brother as a parent is so wonderful. He is a natural father and every little thing he does for her is gentle and filled with love. I held her for about two hours, and she was so content to drift in and out of sleep and watch everything that was going on around her while she was awake. And that was a lot, considering these three were running around like maniacs!

After relaxing at Mom and Lyle’s for the evening, we headed over to Greg and Roxanne’s to catch up with Anne, Patrick and Nick. Roxanne had a fun activity planned for the kids. She showed them her “magic” jelly beans and explained that by planting the magic beans in the ground, and watering them, a huge Lollipop would grow from the beans overnight. The kids were very excited to pick out their spot in the dirt, use the tiny shovel, and gently place (more like throw) their brightly colored beans into the ground. Rox helped them cover the beans with dirt and water them.

After planting the beans, Lolli and Pop showed the kiddos their new San Francisco t-shirts from their recent trip to California and adorable hats, an owl for Savvy and a tiger for Jack. Anne and Patrick brought a yummy cake from Wheatfields in Omaha and we celebrated Rox’s birthday a bit late. The kids were very excited to sing to her and watch the candles.

On Sunday morning the Easter Bunny visited even though Jack and Savannah had already been indulging all weekend in candy treats. Seriously, they cannot seem to get enough.

Before Mass the kids ran outside to see if Lollipops had grown where they planted their beans. You could feel the excitement. I think they forgot about it at first, but once we said something to remind them, they bolted for the front door.

Ahhh the joys of childhood. A giant sucker just for me!! They were so excited and couldn’t wait to EAT them! I was hoping they would forget about them while we were at church, but unfortunately they were asking for them as soon as we pulled into the driveway.

We enjoyed Mass followed by a delicious brunch with honey baked ham, cinnamon rolls, an egg dish, banana bread, fruit, and juice. I ate way too much. The kids left room for their lollipops of course.

After about ten minutes the suckers were confiscated, faces and hands were washed, and the walls were wiped!

Jack had been waiting patiently all weekend for Pop to mow the lawn. Really that last sentence is a complete lie. He was not patient at all. But for Jack, I guess I could say he tried, because he didn’t have an official meltdown, he merely asked about a HUNDRED times when Pop was going to finally mow the lawn. Jack gave us a run down of the schedule the entire Sunday. “Ummm Mom, after we get dressed for church, after church is over, then after we eat and after we changed into outside clothes, then POP MOW?” We did our best to distract him until Sunday afternoon when we knew Pop was ready to mow. Jack was the happiest boy in Sioux City. He followed Pop the whole afternoon and even helped by picking up sticks.
