ChildServe is the children’s pediatric therapy center in Ames, where Jack has gone to therapy for the last three years. Chris has taken the kids there twice a week. I remember when we first moved to Marshalltown. We were so worried about pediatric therapy services. Where would Jack go? Would the therapist be as good as the ones in Iowa City? How will a new baby factor into Jack’s therapy schedule? We we found out about ChildServe we were so happy they were highly recommended. However, we did worry about the commute of 40 minutes each way and winter highway roads and how Savannah would do as a newborn in her car seat for those twice weekly commutes. It turned out we worried for nothing. It was a seamless transition. Jack had great therapists, the weather rarely required Chris to stay home, and Savannah was an angel baby who slept the entire drive for months. We will miss ChildServe. We will not miss the commute. Or I should say, Chris will not miss the commute. He has done almost all of it. I have been taking the kids since I have been off work. It can definitely be challenging to keep Savannah entertained in the waiting room at her age, but I am certain the true difficult part for Chris was when Savannah was a younger toddler and was all over the place learning to walk and getting into everything. So to him: Thank you honey for your dedication to your family and for being the best dad EVER! We love you!
And to the therapists at ChildServe: Thank for choosing a profession that focuses on the rehabilitation of children. We know your job is not easy. We know it requires so much patience, compassion, and love. Thank you for helping children live a better life everyday and celebrating their successes with them. Thank you for loving our Jack and taking such good care of him!
