Kindermusik

We have been going to Kindermusik classes since the beginning of September.  The classes are in Ames and it is the same teacher who taught Jack last fall and winter.  Some of the same kids are in our class and we love going every Saturday morning.  Jack's class is at 9:00 and Savannah's is at 10:00.  I will admit, it is exhausting, getting up early and getting everyone going on Saturday mornings when you have already done it five times that week.  We have to leave the house at 8:15 and Chris is the BEST at helping us get out the door so that we all can eat breakfast together and he cleans up after we leave.  Christina meets me at Kindermusik so she is with Savannah when I am with Jack and then we switch kiddos and I go to class with Savannah.  I am so grateful to her, and so is Chris!  He gets to watch GameDay every Saturday morning and take a shower in peace with no kids in the bathroom.  And I get fun one on one time with each of my babies.

So ever since we have been going to Kindermusik Jack has wanted to play this huge drum.  The drum sits way up high on a shelf that is in plain view to all the kids.  At the beginning of every class Jack points to the drum and tells me that he wants to play with it.  I whisper to him maybe today will be the day.  It never is "the day" and she has never gotten it out until TODAY.  The look on Jack's face was priceless as she stood on a stepstool to retrieve the big drum. PURE EXCITEMENT.  Jack started jumping up and down and squealing in a high pitched voice.  As soon as she got herself situated on the floor Jack ran to her and said "Jack, Jack, Jack!" while furiously hitting himself in the chest to tell her that he wanted to do it first.  Of course, Miss Judy kindly said, "Jack you must wait your turn, please go sit in your place in the circle. So, he listened and of course, she chose to go counter clockwise in the circle like she always does, leaving poor Jack second to last, waiting for 14 other children to bang on the drum before him.  But he waited as patiently as he could, whispering to me, "Jack turn?" after each child was done.  So after hearing that 14 times, it made me so happy to see his big smile when it was his turn.  He even stayed on the beat!

Savannah's class is also fun, but she is a wild woman and will not sit still.  I sweat and sweat in that room, chasing her down and fighting her arching back to get her to sit still for the activities.  For some reason the other babies sit contently with their parents and if Savannah is not completely engaged in the activity she tears across the room and plays in the front of the mirror.  She smiles at herself, pulls her barrettes out of her hair, and blows raspberries, all while laughing, like she is the funniest girl in the room.  The other parents think she is a riot, little do they know that I worry that my daughter is in love with herself!

This is the little drum that Jack finds completely inadequate!
