Our more formal tree with a red and gold theme
I am always excited for Christmas. But this year I was especially excited because I had eleven days, in a row, off work to look forward to, along with the fact that the kids are old enough now to really look forward to Santa coming. We have been watching some Christmas movies, enjoying the lights outside, and have been trying to teach the kids a little bit about the real reason for celebration at Christmas. I had to take some quick pics of our decorations because I had so much fun this year decorating mostly for the kids. A lot of the stuff kids like is a bit tacky, but that is okay. I think it is fun.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to baby Jesus on Friday morning. Jack and Savannah did a nice remembering all the words.
The Christmas Bear, he was a favorite to snuggle with while we watched, “The Polar Express.”

Our letter was so funny. We sat down all four of us and wrote it together. It said, “Dear Santa, We have been very good this year. Jack would like a big long vacuum for Christmas. Savvy wants suckers. Dad wants $$$$$$$$. Mom wants to quit her job. Good luck on your long trip. Eat your cookies. XOXOXOXO Jack and Savvy” We speak only the truth at our house.

The Christmas morning excitement. Jack and Savannah didn’t have much to say as they walked into the living room. Their mouths were formed in perfectly round “OOOOOs” and Savvy leaned forward and put her hands on her knees. Jack shouted when he saw the milk was gone and so were the goodies! He was really excited and announced that “Santa was at Jack’s house.”
“MOM, A KIT KAT IN MY STOCKING!!!”

Savannah didn’t have much to say, she just kept on grinning, holding onto to her Hello Kitty snow globe.

We had fun playing with all the new toys for a little while and then we worked on getting ready to go to Sioux City. As we cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast we heard a crash and exclamations of , “Mom, Dad, Savvy broke it!” She was standing in a little pool of smelly water and there was glitter everywhere. She had dropped her snow globe on the hardwood floor. Cleaning up that mess while Savannah said over and over, “I not mean to, accident Mom.” I gave her a hug and reassured her it was okay. After that mess was taken care of we packed everyone up and off we went, excited to see our families for Christmas.
